Our Puppy Training Services

Off Leash K9 Training of Oklahoma offers early puppy guidance and several training programs that owners can consider as their dogs develop. Program eligibility depends on the dog’s age and the requirements published for each option.

New Puppy Consultation

The New Puppy Consultation gives owners an opportunity to ask questions and establish useful routines before beginning formal obedience training.

Published consultation topics include:

  • Potty training
  • Kennel training
  • Confidence-building routines
  • Helping puppies navigate unfamiliar situations
  • Owner questions about potty training, kennel training, and confidence-building

This consultation is not a complete obedience package. It is an early educational option designed to help owners establish structure, consistency, and clearer communication with their puppies.

Puppies can begin learning simple behaviors at an early age. Socialization should be gradual, positive, and appropriate for the puppy’s age, health, and vaccination status.

Basic Marker Mastery™

Basic Marker Mastery™ is a four-week program consisting of four one-hour private sessions. It uses clicker training, positive reinforcement, and marker-based communication.

Published skills include:

  • Sit
  • Come
  • Place
  • Loose-leash walking

The program includes a 15-foot leash, clicker, and slip lead. It does not use e-collars or prong collars.

A controlled study involving 63 dogs found that dogs in a reward-focused training group were more likely to respond after one cue and demonstrated shorter response latencies than dogs in groups trained with electronic collars. Owners should still select training methods based on their dog’s needs and guidance from qualified professionals.

For young puppies, short, manageable practice periods can make training easier to incorporate throughout the day. Adjust the duration to your puppy’s attention span, comfort, and energy level.

Growing Into Formal Obedience

Off Leash K9 Training of Oklahoma’s published pricing information positions formal obedience training as an option beginning at approximately 24 weeks of age. Eligibility and suitability can vary by program, so owners should confirm the requirements before enrolling.

Available pathways include:

  • Basic Obedience: Four private lessons covering come, sit, down, place, loose-leash heel, and off. The program includes an e-collar and a 15-foot training leash.
  • Basic & Advanced Obedience: Eight private lessons. The first four cover the Basic Obedience curriculum, while the remaining lessons introduce extended-distance obedience and advanced commands. The program includes an e-collar and training leash.
  • Board and Train Programs: The current plans and pricing page lists one-, two-, and four-week Board and Train options. Age and eligibility requirements differ. The one-week program is listed for dogs at least 1½ years old, while the four-week program is listed for dogs six months or older. Contact the team to determine which options, if any, are appropriate for your puppy.
  • Private In-Home Training: Available in four-lesson Basic Obedience and eight-lesson Basic and Advanced Obedience formats. The published programs include an e-collar and training leash. Availability is limited to select days, and distance-based surcharges may apply.
  • Online Puppy Course: The company’s plans and pricing page lists an online puppy course with 24 video modules, eight worksheets, and approximately three hours of material. Topics include potty training, crate training, confidence building, marker training, and reward-based commands.

Frequently Asked Questions

When should I start training my puppy?

Puppy training can begin at home. The key socialization period is about three to 14 weeks, so exposure should be positive, gradual, and suitable for your puppy’s health and vaccinations. Ask your veterinarian about safe interactions. The New Puppy Consultation covers potty training, kennel training, confidence building, and unfamiliar situations. Formal obedience may begin around 24 weeks.

What’s included in the New Puppy Consultation?

The New Puppy Consultation covers potty training, kennel training, confidence-building routines, unfamiliar situations, and related owner questions. It provides early guidance for building structure and useful habits at home. It is not described as a complete obedience program, group class, or dedicated puppy socialization class.

Is positive-reinforcement training available?

Yes. Basic Marker Mastery™ is a four-week program using clicker training, marker-based communication, and positive reinforcement. It teaches sit, come, place, and loose-leash walking without e-collars or prong collars. The company does not publish a puppy-specific minimum age, so contact the team to confirm whether the program is suitable for your puppy.

What if my puppy has a busy family schedule?

The online puppy course offers a flexible, self-paced option for busy families. Private lessons and other formats are also available. Board and Train eligibility depends on age and program rules: the one-week option requires dogs to be at least 1½ years old, while the four-week option accepts dogs six months or older. Ask the team which program is appropriate for your puppy.
